Making dialysis quality easier -
Preventing intradialytic hypotension by blood volume controlled biofeedback
|
 |
Caring for medically unstable haemodialysis patients is demanding and posing a daily challenge to renal care professionals. Almost one third of dialysis patients have symptoms of intradialytic hypotension and this number may further increase with the higher age and number of co-morbidities in renal patients.
There is no doubt that intradialytic hypotension has an impact on renal care professionals workload, treatment cost, dialysis adequacy and quality of life of haemodialysis patients.
The Gambro Corporate Education Session explores how to avoid patients complications using a fully integrated biofeedback system that monitors and regulates blood volume changes during haemodialysis through software driven adjustments of ultrafiltration rate and dialysis fluid sodium concentration. Continuous modulation allows compensation for any sudden variations in blood volume, thus considerably reducing intradialytic hypotension and helps renal patients to feel comfortable.
